To decrease the risk of fire in your home, office or other facility we are equipped to apply state-of-the-art fire retardant chemicals to flammable items such as draperies, carpets and rugs, lumber, mattresses, paper items, upholstery, etc. Our treatment process meets or exceeds all requirements to be rated as a Class “A” fire retardant on many materials by federal, state and locally acknowledged test procedures. The chemicals we use are non-toxic, non-allergenic, odorless, durable, stable when exposed to ultraviolet light, non-hardening and self-identifying.
Durability of typical fire retardants
for textile applications is a major problem because
the chemicals do not bond well to fibers and are gradually
removed by simple wear and tear. After application
of our silicate-based fire retardant, the item treated
will dry to a 15% or less moisture content. The silicates
will then cure, becoming in most cases insoluble,
forming ridged glass-like bonds that dramatically
increase their durability. The curing process may
take up to 30 days at which point maximum durability
is achieved. We can offer flameproofing certificates
of flammability on properly treated interior for up
to the useful life of the items treated, or in accordance
with their maintenance and cleaning schedules.
After treated fabric items are cleaned, a small piece of treated material should be removed and held vertically over a match flame for five seconds. If combustion occurs, the fire retardant treatment must be repeated to ensure future protection. Reapplication is generally recommended after washing or three dry cleanings.
